Tranquility

Uncle Fatso sent a whole batch of postcard-like pictures again but I have decided to pick the best of the lot instead of posting everything due to time and space constraints. The latest pair of pictures somehow evoke a sense of tranquility. Hope everyone will find tranquility in a world that is full of chaos and injustice.

Good picks by Sophie:
1600-y-o Da Fo (Almighty Buddha)
Temple, Xinchang, Zhejiang, China.

.
Left: A stone carving face of The Laughing Buddha (Pot-Belly Buddha)
.
Right: 2nd Entrance to the world of tranquility at Da Fo Temple.

Last Saturday, I visited Xinchang,
Zhejiang Province.

Its about 200km (approx 2hrs
drive) from Hangzhou,Zhejiang
Province.
.
Xinchang is more than 1,000 years
old and has a population of
400,000 inhabitants and was once
a sleepy hallow town and now is a
place rich with its agricultural
products like ground nut, peanut
and all sort of nuts.

She has rough mountain terrain
and is a small city itself with
many small & light industries to
contribute to the economy.

The main feature of the city
is the 1,600 years old Da Fo
(Almighty Buddha) Temple
(1600 years old).

Dedicated to Uncle Cheng:
Buddhism is a spiritually
established path where one
is able to learn about their
true nature and come to a deep
understanding of their inner self.
.
This in turn brings inner peace
for oneself. All said, real peace
- be it personal, family or the
world - ultimately begins with
the individual.
